Loving this work from Tribal DDB Toronto – with their idea for the first Christmas tree powered by Christmas spirit.

Making great use of social media, every time a Christmas message, tweet, blog post, news story or forum post is shared online, it illuminates the tree. So as Canada's Christmas spirit grows stronger and stronger, the tree shines brighter and brighter.

It’s not all fun, fun, fun in the festive season…..we had to highlight this hard-hitting piece of work from Saatchi & Saatchi Bogota for the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency). The spot highlights the plight of thousands of women who are sexually abused in the Colombian armed conflict.

Very decent of those lovely chaps at RBH to get us in the mood with their Mistletoe Online web app. Tell someone you love exactly what you’ve always wanted to….but were never quite sure how to put it in words!

Well, they say the old ones are the best.  And this certainly is an old gag…..but we like the way that BETC London have tied it in with the brand.

We’re just waiting for a doctor to tell us we’ve got acute angina next.

The Midlands’ finest PR talent gathered in Birmingham last week for the annual CIPR PRide Midlands awards, where we are pleased to announce that Rave picked up a Silver Award in Best Use of Social Media for Showcase Cinemas. (See previous blog post for more information on the great work that led to this award.) The Rave PR team was also shortlisted for Outstanding Small Consultancy in recognition of a record breaking year that has seen a raft of new business wins.

And in the next in a sporadic series entitled ‘Look Who’s Stalking’, we present….Kriss Akabusi. That’s right – Akabusi. The legend of athletics, Record Breakers and somewhat dubious works of erotic internet fiction, was the energetic host of the evening – who kept the audience entertained throughout. Pictured here (L-R) are Rob Markwell from Pitch Consultants, Rave PR Account Manager Katie McDermott, Rave Social Media Manager Jane Whitehead and Kriss Akabusi. Just a shame Rob and Kriss hadn’t discussed their outfits before leaving the house. Imagine turning up at the same event with matching haircuts. How embarrassing.

In a week of double celebrations for our work with Showcase Cinemas and Cinema Deluxe, the cinema’s Facebook page stormed through the 100,000 ‘likes’ barrier on Thursday night. Hitting this milestone has taken little over a year to achieve and cements Showcase’s position as the most popular UK cinema brand on Facebook, despite the brand’s network of cinemas being vastly smaller than the likes of Odeon or Cineworld.

“It’s not all about ‘likes’,” says Rave’s PR Director Chris Date on more occasions than we care to remember, but we felt this achievement certainly warranted highlighting.

Rave’s Social Media Manager Jane Whitehead added: “When we started working with Showcase, our social media brief was to make them punch above their weight – and we’ve certainly achieved that. What’s even more satisfying though are the very low drop-off levels we have on the page. Once a cinemagoer ‘likes’ the page, they remain engaged with it and become part of a rapidly growing community. We’ve achieved this by providing them with interesting and exclusive content, and providing a responsive service to their requests.”

    See you at 1 million!
